After FIRST Lego League (grades 5-6) but before FIRST Robotics (High School) is the FIRST Tech Challenge level (grades 7-8).  Our FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team is named Kronos.  FTC is a very similar program to FRC but on a smaller scale.  In FLL, all of the parts needed for fabrication of the robot are provided, how the robot will function is up to each team.  In FTC, the team is designed and built entirely by the team to meet the particular challenge.  The robot and competition field are smaller than the high school level (FRC), but the challenge is still competitive.  Although this level of FIRST Robotics is open to grades 7-high school, our team is only 7th and 8th graders.   FTC is designed to inspire students to think outside the box and find new ways to build, connect, and program a robot to meet a specific challenge.  This prepares student to move on to FRC.

Daedalus members regularly mentor and help Kronos.  Daedalus set up a separate shop for them over the summer. This space has all of the tools and equipment they need. Daedalus has run FTC qualifying tournaments in the past, and although the FTC system was changed this year, Daedalus has still helped with setting up and training Kronos members in how to run events at our school.
